Mission Statement and History
The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is a national organization that strives to improve patient health by ensuring access to high-quality, cost-effective medications and other therapies. The AMCP Chapter at UH College of Pharmacy was the first student chapter to be established in Texas, when it was chartered in 2012. Managed care pharmacy is a rapidly growing field of pharmacy in Texas, and AMCP at UHCOP wishes to give its members ample opportunity to explore all that this field can offer.
The AMCP vision statement is to improve healthcare for all, which is done through the vast resources available through the national chapter. Our chapter offers insight to the lesser known aspects of the pharmaceutical world through its diverse speakers, the P&T competition, the annual round table event, internship databases, mentor/mentee matching program, health fairs, on-site tours, and its legislative outreach programs.
